“I adopted a dog from WARL (Worcester Animal Rescue League) and wanted to ensure she had the best possible chance to become a member of the family. I had another dog already and was concerned about how they would get along and how I could manage two young active pitbulls. WARL recommended Shannon from The Dog Digs as she had been volunteering her time there and had worked with Holly (the new puppy) during her stay at the shelter. Shannon came to my house (yup she makes house calls) and worked with both Holly and Lia (the 2 year old pit I already had).
Working with Shannon was the best training experience I have had, bar none. The dogs took to her immediately and were so responsive to her training methods. I saw results immediately and what was best was that she actively inserted me into the training methods she uses. I knew I was going to have real results with my dogs rather than the results of a great hair cut that you love but know you cannot imitate once you are home alone. What is more: Shannon worked with me on behaviors Lia had that I had not addressed and I thought it would only be Holly that would need working on. Simply, what was great about Shannon is that she taught me how to communicate with my dogs so that they could understand what I wanted and respond correctly and consistently.
After working with Shannon for just a few sessions, my dogs have become a pleasure to walk with: no more pulling and jumping up on passersby. They are focused on walking with me and listening to my requests. They have also become active listeners in my house: they are respectful of guests and do not jump up on people or bark and they will stay a distance I indicate from the door until I ‘release’ them to come and say hello. Because of Shannon myself, my dogs and my guests enjoy each other’s company.
What makes working with Shannon successful is that she takes into account your needs/desires for living well with your dog and she has an integral understanding of how a dog thinks and what methods will promote a positive and lasting response in how you and your dog interact: she gets you to understand each other and communicate properly. I learned things from Shannon about dogs I never knew and I have had pets my whole life!
To anyone who was entertaining the idea of working with The Dog Digs to improve their dog’s behaviors I would say: “Don’t give it a second thought. Her rates are very reasonable and what she gives you and your dog is priceless. You will be amazed at how well your dog responds and you can look forward to truly enjoying your dog: 100% guaranteed.” I personally recommend her to everyone I know who has a dog with behaviors they want to address.” – Heather MacMillan
“We have used dog walkers for more than 10 years and Shannon is the most professional, organized, and expert with the dogs that we have ever had. Jed is much calmer in the house and in his run. We attribute the change in his behavior to getting more exercise and stimulation as well as obedience work.” – Rebecca L.
